Distribution-oriented Extension of WordNet's Ontological Framework

چکیده
The metonymic relations between word senses is a type of ontological knowledge that is implicitly present in a thesaurus such as WordNet1.6. This paper describes an attempt to make these ontological relations explicit by exploiting the hierarchical structure of WordNet. Resulting patterns are evaluated against word sense collocations in Semcor on the assumption that senses that frequently co-occur within documents are an indication of the existence of a lexical relation between them. The results show potential for the extension of the explicit ontological structure of WordNet with these new relations.

This study introduces the necessary ontological redesign regarding patient-oriented frameworks. Different national healthcare frameworks around the world as well as semantic gaps have been discovered and demonstrate the need for a new healthcare management framework. This study's Patient-Oriented Management and Reporting framework (POMR framework) will introduce and measure the concept of value...
متن کاملRoles: One Dead Armadillo on WordNet's Speedway to Ontology
We assume that the ontological structure of the common-sense world, and thus of human knowledge about this world, is organized in networks rather than in hierarchies. Thus, using the taxonomies that semantic relations generate in WordNet as the only source for the reconstruction of ontological information must fail at some point. Comparing the ontological structures underlying roles to WordNet ...

This study aims at empirically measuring a universal criterion for materials evaluation, i.e., learning opportunities, in a locally- and a globally-designed materials. Adopting the conceptual framework of sociocultural theory and its conceptualization of learning as participation (Donato, 2000), the researchers utilized the methodological power of conversation analysis to examine how opportunit...

This study aims at empirically furthering awareness of the organization of interaction in EFL classes. Informed by the methodological framework of conversation analysis, it draws upon a corpus of 52 three-hour naturally-occurring classroom interaction to identify classroom interactional contexts based on the structuring of the pedagogic goals in turn-taking sequences. متن کاملOntological map of service oriented architecture for shared services management
Service oriented architecture (SOA) and shared services (SS) have been widely studied in the information technology literature. However, there is a lack of tools for shared services management (SSM) to apply SOA. This paper proposes an ontological map for SSM to apply SOA. This mapping approach, based on the well-known Zachman framework of information architecture, specifies the ontological per...
